The God's Only Request to Orpheus : Do Not Look Back

Within a 360-degree circular projection environment, The God's Only Request to Orpheus: “Do Not Look Back” unfolds as a corporeal theatre where space itself functions as oracle. Drawing upon the architectural morphology of the UFO Tank Art Center, the work transforms its circular structure into a mytho-ritual machine—an apparatus for both spectacle and its destabilization.

Enveloped in image, sound, and live performance, the audience is stripped of a secure vantage point. No longer mere observers, they are implicated—becoming the “beasts” trapped within the arena of vision itself.

Merging contemporary physical theatre, generative digital imagery, and electronic sound composition, the piece reanimates the Orphic myth not as classical retelling, but as a translation and reconfiguration. It interrogates the gesture of “looking back” as a symptom of modern tragedy—where technological mediation and embodied action collide to unsettle the very act of seeing.

The gods are not present.

And yet—we appear to have already taken our place.
